liner notes
Triptychs is a cinematic exploration of contrast and transformation, where each of the four movements—Oculus, Chasm, Fracture, Horizon—unfolds in three distinct sections, reflecting the layered structure of triptych paintings. The music shifts fluidly between delicate piano passages, searing distorted guitars, and expansive synth textures, creating an intricate interplay of light and shadow.
Tonally, the album drifts between major and relative minor, mirroring an emotional journey that moves through clarity, tension, fragmentation, and resolution. Pulsing echoes, cascading delays, and immersive sound processing give the compositions a sense of vastness and depth, as if traversing an ever-shifting landscape. Each movement tells its own story: Oculus opens a window into perception, Chasm plunges into uncertainty, Fracture splinters reality, and Horizon stretches toward an unknown future.
With a balance of structure and fluidity, Triptychs invites the listener into a world of evolving textures and emotional contrast. It is an immersive experience where melodies emerge and dissolve, rhythms build and collapse, and each sonic element plays a role in an intricate, ever-changing tableau. A fusion of organic and electronic elements, Triptychs is a reflection on transformation, perspective, and the spaces between.
The incoalmo RECORD
The Rule of 40:
Total Runtime 40:29!! Winner!
The Rule of 30: No more than 30% of the album can be written before March 1
0% written before March 1!! I noodled a bit on Feb 28, but not until after March 1 started in Australia, and I don't think anything I did that night counts as 'writing'. Winner!
The Rule of 20: No more than 20% of the album can be recorded before March 1
0%! Winner!
The Rule of 10: No more than 10% of the album can be a cover
The only non-original content on this record are Garage Band Drum tracks in two or three places. I'm calling it 1%. Winner!
I do have a 'bonus track' ZZ Top cover recorded, but it's not listed here because it totally wrecks the vibe of the end of the record. Link in the Discord. IYKYK.
The Rule of Zero:
See you next year, Rule of Zero. I didn't need you this year.
